Blue Lock Season 2 :Episode 1 review

Blue Lock Season 2

Alright, let’s dive into it—Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 1 finally dropped on October 5th 2024, and what a wild ride it has been! I know when the trailer first hit, people were quick to panic over some CGI shots and still frames, but after watching the episode, I think we can all agree, this season is bringing the heat! If you had your doubts like I did, you can finally breathe a sigh of relief because Blue Lock is back, and it’s back with a bang!

Right from the opening scene, we are hit with an epic moment between the Itoshi brothers—Reo and Rin. That snowy night really sets the tone for the episode, and let me tell you, the animation here is chef’s kiss! The lighting, shadows, and colors bring that chaotic energy Blue Lock is known for. It’s like they wanted us to feel every bit of tension between the brothers, and boy, did they deliver! Whether it was the fluid animation of their dribbling or the slick rainbow effects during their movements, you could feel the intensity. Rin’s internal struggle was portrayed perfectly, and it left me eagerly waiting for more.

What really blew me away, though, was how smooth the animation felt. When Rin pulls off his dribbling move, the visuals completely cranked up the action. Everything—from his facial expressions to the dramatic soundtrack—meshed together to create this raw sense of despair. It’s the kind of emotional rollercoaster that Blue Lock fans love, and trust me, episode 1 did not disappoint in delivering those chills.

Now, I have to mention that cool little detail: the dinosaur figurine falling from the sky during a critical scene. Did anyone else catch that? The way it shattered on the ground added some symbolic flair—foreshadowing the upcoming clash, maybe? That’s what I love about Blue Lock; even in its smaller moments, it knows how to keep you on your toes with subtle yet impactful details.

Moving past that intense opening, we get a shift to a more laid-back scene with the Japan Football Association president and Ego. The contrast was refreshing—a calm, dialogue-driven moment that made me chuckle thanks to Ego’s obsession with his phone. I mean, come on, it’s like they were throwing in an iPhone ad just for laughs!

The episode’s opening sequence also had fans buzzing! The theme song was an absolute banger, and the visuals gave us a taste of the madness to come. From roulette wheels and dice to shots of epic goals, the entire opening screamed “high stakes.” It reminded us that in Blue Lock, it’s not just about skill—it’s about luck, risk, and those split-second decisions that can make or break a player’s career.

As the episode progressed, we were introduced to the top six players heading into the third selection. I have to give props to the animation team here. The little icons and chibi graphics Ego used to explain the process added a fun touch. It’s the small details like that, which keep even the quiet moments visually engaging. Plus, the darker tone of this season’s art style really fits the stakes, making everything feel more intense.
